[2/22/2008] Upcoming Performances

Hope this finds you all well. I've been laying low and working on writing new tunes lately. Also coming up on March 4th, Tuesday night I will be involved in a jazz competition at Star Jazz & Blues Lounge. The Future of Jazz Competition VII put on by Tammy Allen will take winners and have them play at The Atlanta Jazz Festival. What a great opportunity if able to do so. Special thanks goes out to Tammy for including me in such a great event. Performing that night with me will be William Green on keys, Ron Jackson on bass, and Dwight Smith on drums, some of Atlanta's top musicians. I will be performing AT 10pm so please come out early to listen to the other two artists at 8 and 9pm.

Thanks for stopping by the site and come back again soon! Ozlo.

[11/5/2007] OZLO hits Tucson

He's back in Tucson for one night only with his trusty sidekick, 2007 TAMMIES Award winner for Best Electric Guitarist, Doug "Hurricane" Floyd on guitar, the thundering bass of Demetri "All Hands" Enriquez, the drumming wonder of Pete "Jazz Hands" Swan, and Louria Matlock and Erin Thompson tearing up the background vocals. The show's November 9th at The Hut, starting at 9:30pm. Greyhound Soul will be wrapping up the evening. Come and GET FUNKY to the musical eroticism that is OZLO!

New tunes ready to groove ya, and always a good time had by all. If you want to be notified for when upcoming shows are, sign up for the email list here at the site. [12/24/2006] Hello Everyone and Happy Holidays (again)!

I hope this finds you all well and everyone has a great Holiday and New Year! Things are good here on my end. Last night me and the guys (Q on bass and Grant on drums) had a lead guitar player Rob come in and play with us for the first time. It went very well, and if he stays in the band we might even call it a Christmas miracle! Great player so hopefully he wants to be a part of the project.

We also have our first gig coming up on January 6th, Saturday at Eyedrum (eyedrum.org) for Cake Sit, The Musical! That's right. Me and the guys are the pit orchestra for this spoof on Footloose...good times. AND...we get to play a set before the show starts so looking forward to our first gig and being a part of a great cause like a canned food drive. We'll be playing our set around 9pm, and then the show will begin around 10pm so hope to see you out there!

Thanks for stopping by and will be posting some new recordings soon so make sure you come back and check in every now and again...

Now bring me some figgy pudding! Peace...Ozlo.

[11/30/2006] Hello and Happy Holidays to All of You!

Things are very good right now. I am happy to say I have a great new drummer in the pocket named Grant, and my bass player Q who has stuck with me through the whole "searching for drummer" thing is still in for the long haul. We are working up quite a trio show and possibly have a lead guitar guy coming in next week so if that happens and it works out I'll let you all know. I will be posting a picture of us soon. The tunes are sounding really good and now comes the booking shows part. I soon will be on the hunt for shows and venues and bands to play with. Can't wait to post more and more shows at it happens.

I am also working with a new corporate band called Infinity Show Band. My first gig with them is a holiday party for GE! Hoping GE can hook me up with some new energy saving light bulbs while I'm there...Looking forward to more gigs with Infinity Show Band and all the players, what a great group of musicians and people. We start every rehearsal with a prayer...it's beautiful, and such a refreshing way to start a practice.

My Turkey Day was great, and we here at home are getting our holiday cheer all put up (or I should say Casey has been decorating and doing it all...give props where props are due!) so "it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas..."

Over the holiday I hope to get some more new tunes written and the new ones I have up at myspace.com/ozlo recorded with the guys for a new live band sound to it. Would love to hear how you all are so send me emails through the site here if you want or join up at Myspace.

Peace on Earth, good will toward all men and women. Much Love, Oz.

[9/12/2006] Hello my Ozlonians!

I am just healing up from bronchitis and wanted to let you all know how things are. I had a great gig a couple weeks ago at Eddie's Attic (www.eddiesattic.com) opening up for Atlanta's own Golden. The show was packed and well received. I'm hoping to get more opening spots with bands there and eventually get my own night. Trying to build an all new fan base after a move is a lot of work, but if anyone's up for the challenge it's me!

Been working at The Vortex in Little Five Points and making great friends there with staff and customers. Passing out my cards with my web site on it like they're going out of style. Also looking for a booking agent and maybe even some management, takin' it to the next level. Got some new tunes up at Myspace and working on more.

Hoping to get my Funkness back to the Ol' Pueblo and rock my fans in Tucson before Christmas so as soon as I got the dates and venues lined up it will be posted here. Oh yea, and do me a favor and send my site to some people you might not have shared it with yet. Let's keep spreadin' the Ozlo love ya'll! This is just the calm before the storm...

[5/31/2006] Jazz Giggin'!

So I got my first official jazz vocal gig here in Atlanta!

I met Hudson, a bass player, when I went to see Tammy Allen perform a couple weeks ago. Thanks to Tammy for letting me sit in, and thanks to Hudson for giving me this opportunity.

I'll be singing with one of Hudson's jazz projects at KC Pit BBQ this Friday, June 2nd from 6-9pm. There's no cover charge and if you come out please let me know you heard about it on the yahoo groups message board.

You can hear some jazz tunes I do at my website...ozloland.com Look forward to seeing you all there and can't wait to get in front of a crowd for a night! Ozlo.

[1/8/2006] Checkin' In

What's up party people?! The music studio room is almost all set up! Drum kit is missing one part but my man Gabe of Mankind is sending me the hardware from his Tucson based Guitar Center store so the skins will be up and runnin' very soon. Thanks Gabe! Got the new Yamaha Motif set up and been reading the manual religiously to figure out how to write a bunch of new music on it. I plan on posting fresh tracks to see what you think so keep comin' back to check for new music coming soon...

And also I just got my Myspace.com profile up and running, so go check it out at www.myspace.com/ozlo. I plan on updating pics and music there too, and going to try and make it different from site so go see what you think. Please say hi any Myspace friends, and pass me on to other friends to spread the Ozlo Love! And if you know any hip new music you think I should check out please let me know, always love hearing new stuff.

Ok everyone, Happy New Year to you all! I think this is going to be a good one for all of us!

[12/14/2005] HELLLOOO HOTLANTA!!

Here I am in the ATL people! Went to my first jazz jam last night at The Jazz Forum just around the corner from my house. Thanks to Melvin and the guys for letting me jump up for one. Going to try and hit a jam every night this week! The city of Atlanta and its patrons have been nothing but amazingly nice and inviting. There IS something to say for Southern Hospitality! Thinking about going to Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA tonight for the acoustic jam. Been doing tons of research online and looking at the Atlanta music scene info. Making lists, checkin' em twice...and that brings me to my next subject...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! I hope everyone glad tidings this time of year, and on into next year as the '06 approaches. Working on getting some fresh ideas down from brain to paper to disc to keep you all a bum-bum-bum-bum bumpin'! And don't forget to keep on shuckin' and jivin' my friends right on into the New Year! Ozlo.

[11/8/2005] New Tunes Online

We've added a couple of sets of tracks to the Songs section. First up, there's a set from the band playing album cuts, new unrecorded tracks and a few cover tunes at KXCI as part of the Locals Only show on KXCI. Second, we've added a set of Ozlo performing jazz standards with an assortment of friends live at French Quarter. Click over and give them a listen.

[11/7/2005] Hello to all my Funky Friends!

It is with bitter sweetness that I say goodbye to Tucson, for on November 13th I will be moving to Atlanta, Georgia! Over the past several years I've been visiting Atlanta and fell in love with the music scene there and met many great musicians. It's full of all the things I love like the jazz, funk, r&b, nu-soul, and hip-hop.

Plans to return by spring are in affect to be able to play some shows. My goal is to start another band on the east coast, then fly back and forth between the two coasts and work my way into the middle!

To all of my friends, much love to you, and the web site will still be up and running, so please email me and stay in touch. Hope to see you all at the Farewell Show with the band (Doug, Jim and Demetri), Spacefish and Matt Mitchell. Thank you again for all of your support throughout the years, and keep on shuckin' and jivin'!!! Love and Light, Ozlo.

[11/7/2005] Downtown Tucsonan

Jamie Manser published a nice write up on Ozlo leaving town in this month's Downtown Tucsonan. Read "Keep On Shuckin' and Jivin'" on their site.

Ozlo

[11/5/2005] OZLO is leaving the building...

That's right, my man is splitting for greener--and funkier--pastures. He's the most talented vocalist and lyricist I've had the opportunity to work with in my 26 years of playing in bands. All of us, musicians and fans alike, are sorry to see him go, but personally I'm thrilled for him to get this opportunity. Ozlo is going to light Atlanta on fire--assuming he can put together a band as hot as Jim, Demetri and I:)

"Moving On Up Week" will include an appearance on KXCI's Locals Only show on November 7th (8-10pm) and the grand finale good bye show at Plush on November 11th. Make sure to come out, say goodbye, and drink yourself stupid--we sure will be.

[8/30/2005] OZLO Update!

Well hello everyone and thanks for stoppin' by. What a great summer we had, and now we're ready to get down and dirty once again! The band and I have decided to come back to the French Quarter on Wednesday nights which we are very excited about. Last year was such a blast thanks to all of our family and friends, that we would be just plain out of it if we didn't return to The French Quarter and make Hump Day truly a humpin' day for everyone!

Occasionally I plan to bring in some fresh meat, different bands, featured artists, and maybe even a clown or two! So tell your friends, we're Back just like Baby's Got!! New tunes, new times. See you there and be ready to do some shuckin' and jivin' ya'll!

[6/21/2005] THANK YOU, TUCSON!

Tucson Weekly released the TAMMIES 2005 results last week and we're proud to have been selected by Tucson as the Best Funk/Hip-Hop/Soul band for 2005. Since the award is selected by Tucson music fans, we're especially honored. To read more and see a list of the other terrific bands in Tucson that were recognized, read here.

[5/2/2005] Hey Everybody!

Ozlo here. Just wanted to say a quick hello and thank you to all of you who have supported me, Matt Mitchell, my band, and all other artists who came through our Wednesday night jamboree! Good times were had, and now it's time to take the summer off and write a bunch of new music for all to hear! Working on getting shows out of town, so if you're a club owner somewhere, whether in the western region or Paris, we want to play for you! Or a fan somewhere, who knows a club owner, and you want us to play at your favorite bar, email us and let us know so we can come and funk you up! The road is waiting for us, and getting out of this heat this summer is my first priority indeed.

We've got some great shows coming up, so peak at the calendar and come out and get your fill of the cracker funk! Love and Light to you all, and I love to hear from you, so email through the site and tell me what you think about anything, Ozlo.

[1/11/2005] Howdy Kids! The band will be on KXCI's Locals Only show hosted by Don Jennings on Monday, January 17th from 8-10pm. We'll be playing songs from the new CD and promoting the CD release show on January 28th.

[1/7/2005] Hello Everyone!

Ozlo here. Happy New Year to you all! This month is very exciting for me...it's our CD Release Party! January 28th at Plush. The Deludes and Mankind will be joining us for the festivities, as well as others to be announced. We hope everyone will attend this ruckus and let lose since it IS Friday night!! More will be posted as the month dwindles down to the day and my excitement is ready to explode onstage for the show! I'm saving up people! So come on out.

With the new year, lots of new things will be happening too. I promise MORE fun at shows. I promise MORE funky stuff you can dance to. And, more surprises! Matt and I are at The French Quarter every Wednesday this month of January, so come out and see us! 9p-1a...no cover.

Ok my friends, see you soon! Ozlo.
